25 days off

I've been away, hiding in an emotional hole for the past 25 days, with not an iota of an inclination to write anything. Miyu has been gone for 22 of those days, back in her home town in Fukushima, half of them spent horizontal in hospital, as her placenta was not where it should have been.
She returns today, and lo and behold so has my inclination to write something (although my fingers are strangely awkward, tapping away on this keyboard). The words "muse" springs to mind, but also the thought that I'm a lazy bastard lurks more to the fore...
So, what's been happening in Tomland since almost a month ago?
!. Living on my own has been, dare I say it, great! The reason Miyu left was because we had a hum-dinga of an argument, which resulted in her saying her farewells and storming out, promising never to return. A couple of days later we'd made-up, over the telephone, but she'd gone back to her parents, and then to hospital. She needed the rest, and I needed the space, I suppose. At first, I thought I'd go out and get pissed every night, dance till dawn and hang out with friends. I ended up staying in most nights, having a couple of beers, watching movies and reading. I kinda felt guilty at first, to be doing "nothing", but then I chilled and enjoyed it.
@. Work wise, I realised I need something full-time. At present I'm working at Phoenix and doing some private lessons. Had a word with the HR manager yesterday and we agreed it'd be better if I went full-time. This means I'll get some paid holiday and hopefully more work. Also get paid a bit more too :)
#. I've continued with my preps for the big 100km Oxfam hike. The gym at my local sports centre is now under reconstruction, I was going there regularly (saw that wall punching guy again, and this time he didn't punch the wall...or stare at me), about 3 times a week. So, been doing running and mountain biking instead. Last Sunday went on a 20km ride to the Tama River. It was a warm, sunny day and I only needed a t-shirt and shorts. Loads of people out and about doing outdoorsy things, like me. I think the exercise is just about counter balancing the beer I'm consuming, although I'm sure there are worrying signs of a beer gut appearing (or is it a phantom pregnancy?)
$. Erm, I think that's it! I know, it's pretty embarrassing how little I've actually done in these past 3+ weeks, but there you go.
Hopefully I'll be back to keeping up a regular stream of snippets, so until the next time.
