Oh my, that's some beautiful scenery - a very different kind to what we get here in Finland.

We're hunkering down with the long nights and hoping for plenty of snow. I wonder if you'd like cross-country skiing (assuming you've not tried it)?

Thanks for your post, Melody.
I've actually been to Finland once, a long time ago, but it was in the summer, so no cross country skiing. However, I did do a lot of mountain biking, way up north, past the arctic circle. The almost constant daylight served to energize me, and the lush forests sharpened my senses.
Have you ever visited Japan?

Biking is really popular in Finland, but if you get a chance to come back and it is summer, perhaps you'd like orienteering. It's a popular sport here to be given a map in the middle of nowhere and have to find your way back to a designated spot - quicker than everyone else.

I've just completed my first year here and the summer had the same affect on me too.

I've not been to Japan yet, but it's high on the list and I think I'd like the countryside more than the cities, which is where most people I know seem to go.
